Who is the Empowered Woman?
Updated: Oct 13, 2022
Like many women, I grew up surrounded by poverty, abuse and addiction. It was family disfunction at its finest. By my twenties and despite my childhood circumstances, I considered myself somewhat successful. I checked off all the boxes of domestic bliss, managing to graduate college and create a lucrative career as a Corporate Training and Leadership Development Consultant. I married, gave birth to a beautiful daughter and owned a home in a small sleepy suburb of town. This seemingly perfect life kept the disfunction of my past from catching up to me.
It wasn't until I found myself stuck in the stranglehold of domestic violence that I realized just how out of control my life was. It forced me the heartbreak of my current situation and the nightmare of my past that led me to it. The journey down the decade long, gut-wrenching road to recovery is where I discovered my true self. Who knew I had so much untapped potential and power? Unbeknownst to me, this same road would led me directly into a head on collision with my purpose.

The Oxford Dictionary defines empowerment as "the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights". The Empowered Woman is a living, breathing example of this. She’s taken ownership of her life, defined her purpose and enforced her boundaries. The world knows where she stands.
The Empowered Woman leads by example. She doesn’t shy away from conflict but rather practices the art of positive confrontation. Her transparency and authenticity are on full display as she leans into and accepts her own imperfections. This powerful lady welcomes feedback while resisting criticism and refusing to take life personally.
The Empowered Woman views life's challenges as invaluable learning experiences that are necessary to building rich character and true grit. Her contagious optimism and humble confidence stem from doing the work to heal in her own life. She’s learned to trust her gut even when it’s full of butterflies. The Empowered Woman’s personal journey to a place of joy, peace and reinvention is what drives her to inspire and champion other women.
When you look in the mirror who do you see? Are you an Empowered Woman? Imagine life as a powerful woman living authentically while overcoming her fear of judgement or the unknown. What does that feel like? Think of all the women you will inspire by pursuing and living out your dreams. Think of all those you can encourage by sharing your story. Channel all the energy wasted on anger and bitterness and use it as the fuel needed to level up. Turn the pain into passion. The world needs you, Empowered Woman.
